Cchinmay P Purohit began his career as a theatre director in Ahmedabad, earning numerous accolades, including Gujarat State Awards and several Best Director honours. In 1994, he became the first director to receive Gujarat Government funding for producing a play, marking a significant milestone in his theatre journey.

In 1995, he moved to Mumbai and joined the legendary filmmaker Late Kundan Shah, known for cult classics like Nukkad, Yeh Jo Hai Zindagi, Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa, Kya Kehna, and Wagle Ki Duniya. Under Shah’s mentorship, Chinmay mastered the grammar of cinema while working on Bollywood films such as Kya Kehna, Hum To Mohabbat Karega, Loveria (produced by Amitabh Bachchan Corporation Limited), and several others.
